Roads

Highway 16 and other highways: Highway 16 is the state highway bisecting the Gig Harbor Peninsula, connecting with I-5 in Tacoma over the Narrows Bridge. It serves the balance of the northwestern portion of the greater Kitsap Peninsula (Bremerton, Silverdale, as well as the military facilities of U S Naval Station at Bremerton, Trident Submarine Base at Bangor)

Bridge/Highway projects: The Tacoma Narrows Bridge will be increased in capacity with a second bridge in spring of 2007. At that time each bridge will carry traffic only one direction, with HOV lanes provided. The planned toll for round-trip will be $3.00.
HOV lanes are being provided, in conjunction with the second Narrows Bridge, to meet I-5 and as far north as Purdy.
